Amalgamated Engineers Private Limited (AEPL) was founded in 1971 by visionary mechanical engineer and toolmaker Mr. S. Varadarajan. What began as a modest distributorship in Chennai with a clear mission—to fuel India’s industrial advancement through precision and purpose—has evolved into a trusted powerhouse of engineering solutions.
AEPL’s story began with Kennametal/WIDIA India Limited, laying a strong foundation in tungsten carbide tooling. In just a year, AEPL became the official distributor for Grindwell Norton Limited, marking the beginning of strategic alliances with some of the world’s most respected industrial brands. By the 1990s, AEPL’s portfolio included Pneumatic Tools, consisting of brands such as Fuji, DeSoutter, Chicago Pneumatic, and Rodcraft, all under the Atlas Copco banner.
With five decades of industry leadership, AEPL stands today as a solutions-first company backed by a state-of-the-art service centre, factory-trained engineers, and a commitment to engineering trust, one customer at a time.

Mr. S. Varadarajan is a pioneering mechanical engineer and master toolmaker whose unique blend of technical expertise, business foresight, and entrepreneurial spirit has shaped the trajectory of industrial distribution and precision engineering in India for over five decades.
His journey began in 1969, when he co-founded a carbide tooling unit in Chennai alongside his brother-in-law, a senior leader at Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT). At a time when single-point cutting tools were the industry standard, Mr. Varadarajan introduced a new generation of custom-engineered, multi-functional solutions -- reamers, end mills, and serrated carbide blades fitted with specially fabricated Kennametal/WIDIA India Limited tips. These groundbreaking tools quickly gained acceptance among prestigious institutions, including Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, setting a new benchmark for innovation in the sector.
Fuelled by a larger vision to support India's industrial modernization, Mr. Varadarajan established Amalgamated Engineers Private Limited (AEPL) in 1971. AEPL began as an official distributor for Kennametal/WIDIA India Limited, founded on the core principles of technical expertise, customer-centric service, and long-term trust. In 1973, AEPL further strengthened its offerings by partnering with Grindwell Norton Limited, marking the beginning of its evolution into a leading engineering solutions provider.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, under Mr. Varadarajan's leadership, AEPL expanded into the pneumatic tools segment, introducing globally renowned brands such as Fuji, DeSoutter, Chicago Pneumatic, and Rodcraft under the Atlas Copco portfolio to the Indian market. His unwavering focus on service excellence, in-depth product knowledge, and a strong relationship-oriented approach enabled AEPL to establish a significant footprint across South India.

Vandana Krishnan is an accomplished business and operations strategist with over 15 years of experience across multiple sectors, including technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and telecommunications. Renowned for her blend of analytical skills and visionary thinking, she uniquely balances technical expertise with commercial agility within the industrial solutions ecosystem.
In her last role at Peri Software Solutions Inc. (PERI), Vandana played a key role in driving enterprise-wide operations. She effectively led client engagement, people strategy, contract management, and business development. Notably, she spearheaded the launch of PERI's consulting services vertical. This transformative initiative diversified the company's portfolio and doubled both its size and revenue through targeted acquisition and delivery excellence.
Vandana began her professional journey in IT consulting, where she delivered tailored solutions to leading clients in the pharmaceutical, retail, and telecommunications sectors. Her ability to bridge technical complexity with business outcomes became a key strength during her time at Amdocs in St. Louis, MO, where she served as Sales Support and Solutions Manager. In this capacity, she managed global account strategies and proposal development for marquee clients in the communications and media sectors.
Her passion for crafting compelling industrial narratives developed at TriComB2B, a niche marketing agency in Dayton, Ohio. There, she translated intricate product features into high-impact marketing strategies for industrial and engineering clients, deepening her appreciation for the intersection of engineering and market opportunity.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Vandana is dedicated to community leadership. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at Girls In The Know, a non-profit organization in the United States that empowers adolescent girls to become bold and informed leaders.
Vandana holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Madras and an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a certified yoga instructor, she has taught across the United States and Hong Kong for over 15 years, exemplifying her belief in holistic, heart-centered leadership.
Based in St. Louis, Missouri, with a secondary presence in Manhattan, New York, Vandana skillfully balances her professional ambitions with her most cherished role: being a wife and mother of two.

A. Dinakar is a seasoned business leader and mechanical engineer with over 35 years of distinguished experience in manufacturing, automotive, engineering, and industrial solutions. A graduate of the University of Mysore (1984), his career is characterized by a unique blend of operational expertise, strategic foresight, and people-centric leadership.
A. Dinakar began his professional journey at Grindwell Norton Ltd., a Saint-Gobain company, where he steadily advanced to become the Business Head of Coated Abrasives. During his tenure, he led various functions across sales, marketing, product management, and operations, establishing a strong foundation for his future leadership roles.
In 2005, he assumed the role of Managing Director at DISA India, the Indian subsidiary of a leading global Danish company in the foundry machinery sector. In this position, he guided the company through a crucial growth phase, enhancing its market position in a highly competitive niche.
From 2007, A. Dinakar served as President and Managing Director of Kennametal India Ltd. (formerly WIDIA India Ltd.), a prominent player in cutting tools and wear-resistant solutions. During the global financial crisis of 2008–09, he delivered strong performance within a complex matrix structure, balancing global alignment with local market responsiveness while reporting to boards in both India and the United States.
Between 2009 and 2011, he transitioned to private equity, joining India Value Fund Advisors (IVFA), where he led the transformation of a key portfolio company in the construction aggregates sector, shifting it from a founder-driven business to a professionally managed enterprise poised for scalable growth.
In 2011, A.Dinakar returned to the Saint-Gobain Group as Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Sekurit India Ltd., overseeing its automotive glass division until 2020. Under his leadership, the company significantly increased its market share in the OEM sector. It commissioned a state-of-the-art Greenfield facility in Bhiwadi (Delhi NCR), establishing new benchmarks in manufacturing excellence for automotive windshields.
Throughout his career, A.Dinakar has been recognized for his strategic clarity, operational discipline, and authentic leadership style. A firm believer in the power of human capital, he has mentored many high-potential leaders and continues to advocate for leadership development.
After retiring, he founded ADWHYS, a boutique leadership and business advisory practice. Through ADWHYS, he collaborates with senior professionals and organizations to unlock potential, catalyze growth, and drive transformation. An insightful thought leader, Dinakar regularly publishes well-regarded articles on leadership, culture, and business transformation on LinkedIn and other platforms.
